The FAA Tracking Number (FTN) is a unique identifier assigned to candidates wishing to take FAA Knowledge Tests. The government website that manages the process is called IACRA (Integrated Airman Certification and Rating Application). First-time candidates complete a brief registration process on that website and at the conclusion are assigned the FTN.

IMPORTANT: if you have previously used IACRA and already have an FTN skip the following steps. If you cannot recall that number, call the IACRA help line at (844) 322-6948 for assistance.

1. Navigate to IACRA Flip back and forth between tabs to follow step-by-step instructions.
2. Choose “Applicant” at top, then click on “Agree to TOS (terms of service) and Continue” at bottom.
3. Skip the section asking for your Certificate number (you don't have one).
4. Fill out Personal Information.
5. Choose two security questions and provide the answers. Answers must be at least three characters long.
6. Choose your own username (between 6 and 50 characters).
7. Choose your own password (between 12 and 50 characters long, using characters from all 4 of the following groups: Upper case letters, lower case letters, numbers and symbols (no ampersand or angle brackets).
8. Finally, click on “Register”. You will then be given an FTN (like A1234567 or C1234567).
9. Proceed to Scheduling Instructions
